The Soils Project: Essays
The essays included in this booklet introduce the ideas and issues that have arisen from this collaborative project to date. At the heart of this issue is an exploration of the effects of Dutch and British colonisation on land sovereignty, ecology and climate change through the lens of the communities, artists and arts workers who are deeply concerned and directly affected by it.
Contained within the pages are deeply insightful and enriching contributions from Zena Cumpston (Barkandji), Victoria Lynn, Struggles for Sovereignty, Charles Esche, Teresa Cos Rebollo, and Rolando Vázquez.

Plant kin builds upon and continues the explorations of The Soils Project exhibition at TarraWarra Museum of Art. Author, artist, researcher and plant enthusiast Zena Cumpston (Barkandji) has created this publication which explores many aspects of indigenous plants and their cultural significance in the lives of First Peoples over millennia. Plant kin presents research and writing beautifully illuminated through original artworks created especially for this limited-edition publication.
